January’s Featured Restaurant: Copacaccia Italian Cuisine

January’s Featured Restaurant is Capocaccia, situated in the heart of midtown. Originally founded as a café and bakery with a wood burning oven in 2004, it only had seating for 35 people. Though, the combination of atmosphere, food and style, along with satisfied and returning customers demanded that it evolve into something bigger and better.

Today, the restaurant has seating for over 90 and uses its square footage very smartly, for instance, the coat rack which hangs behind the banquette in the dining room is indeed a space saver. But besides that, the vibe at Capocaccia is sexy with dim mood lighting, a damask feature wall on one side and an eclectic mix of pictures in various frames on the other. Remaining true to the heritage, there is also a mural of Italy and the bathroom walls are adorned with Italian newspaper and magazine clippings for character.

Blue pineapple-esque chandeliers illuminate the dining area, serving as a conversation piece. Speaking of food, the menus at Capocaccia are just right, there is something for everyone. Thin crust pizzas made in the famous oven start at $16, and what’s Italian without pasta you ask? Capocaccia doesn’t need to answer that, the variety they offer also starts at $16. And since your there, it’s a great idea to pair your food with a wonderful wine from their multilevel selection.

Next time you’re in midtown and searching for a place to eat, stop in at Capocaccia, January’s Featured Restaurant.

Capocaccia is located at 1366 Yonge St. Toronto, Ontario M4T 3A7.
