Alternative Scarborough Education 1 (ASE 1)

Since 1975, ASE 1 has offered a dynamic, full-time learning alternative in Toronto's public education system. We welcome a diverse community of self-motivated learners. ASE 1 has a friendly, adult-like environment in which staff and students are partners in learning. We emphasize independent learning skills that are essential for post-secondary education and employment.

Our graduates experience an exceptionally high rate of acceptance and success at post-secondary institutions. ASE 1 enables students to take charge of their own learning in challenging and creative ways. Each week, students have a maximum of three scheduled 80-minute classes per course. Students also have daily opportunities to engage in ongoing one-on-one meetings with teachers to enhance academic performance and personal growth.
