December’s Featured Restaurant: Cafe Boulud Toronto

December’s Featured Restaurant is Café Boulud; situated at the new Four Seasons in the prestigious Yorkville neighbourhood. World renowned chef and restaurateur Daniel Boulud has two additional restaurants with the same moniker in Palm Beach and New York; he launched his most recent enterprise in Toronto this past October.

Café Boulud is impressive since you can go there to have a full meal of appetizers, main courses and desserts, or any category alone. The ingredients are exclusive, presentation exceptional, and taste delectable. Portion sizes are what you can expect at any posh restaurant since the focus is on quality and not quantity. At the same time, the chef knows how to make each component in the dish palatable and work together.

The dinner menu is divided into four sections which change with the seasons to ensure fresh and local ingredients: La Tradition – Classic French Regional Cooking, La Saison – Inspired by the Market, Le Potager – Vegetable Garden (items in this segment can be made vegetarian, though, it’s best to call in advance to make a request) and finally, Le Voyage – World Cuisines.

Appetizers start at $14, main courses $24, and sides are $8. It’s encouraged to sample some of everything, share with your guests if you have to. Make sure to save room for dessert too, options start at only $10 and will turn anyone who claims not to have a sweet tooth into the biggest liar.

This establishment is on the second floor of the Four Seasons hotel which is decorated in a very minimalist fashion with a mixture of steel, wood and stone elements. The restaurant itself is somewhat of an art gallery, with original glass blown vases, sculptures and one of a kind artwork flawlessly displayed throughout and all for sale. If you’re looking for a place to go with friends for excellent food, drinks and a good laugh, Café Boulud is it. There is an extensive wine list available, as well as wines by the glass starting at $14 for 5 oz.

Café Boulud is located at the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto – 60 Yorkville Avenue Tel. +416-964-0411
