August’s Featured Restaurant: Gilaneh

This month’s featured restaurant is situated in the upscale Westin Prince Hotel Toronto (900 York Mills Road) in North York. Upon reaching Gilaneh at the top of the stairs, you are greeted by ancient-looking sculptures, and artefacts. The establishment appears like a fancy, ornamental cave adorned with lanterns and other relics.

This authentic Persian restaurant is very well liked by regulars and those visiting for the first time. It serves up familiar Iranian dishes combined with global flavours and local ingredients. Scrumptious, fresh Iranian bread is baked on the spot in the wood burning oven.

The menu highlights many Persian recipes such as the Grilled Rack of Lamb, Atlantic salmon and also includes some vegetarian options. Large portions sit atop a bed of basmati rice, coloured with saffron and grilled meats or vegetables.

A full bar menu is also available and there is a good selection of wines and martinis. Private parties can be held on the other side of the restaurant at the Tachara banquet room and can accommodate groups of up to 110 people.
